Nostalgia, in the truest form of the word, is always pleasant. It has been nearly one whole year since I have seen my dear friend Ashley, and tonight was the night. She's set to be married Sunday morning, and I get to be there to watch her shout out "I do!" Tonight was the bachelorette shin-dig, complete with a live chef performance at Riptide Sushi, a brilliant, upbeat, downtown social watering hole. As if sushi and freshly-cooked sesame Ahi Tuna wasn't enough, we headed straight to the dance floor. With music and a steady rhythm luring us under the spotlight, Ashley, Kates (another life-long friend of mine), and I took our freshly painted toes in our sexy high heels out for a little action. Lots of laughter and several bad dance moves later, we called it a night well before midnight so that we could rest up for the bridal shower tomorrow morning. What a fun weekend ahead!
You know, there are few people in life that are qualified to be admired, and Ashley certainly deserves the accolades. She is everything you imagine a kind person to be...times 10. I am certainly continuously amazed that I am surrounded by people born on planet nice. I am always much more content with my own imperfections after having spent time with such people, and I am challenged to step up my own game. What an incredible life I live that I get the opportunity to spend time with people like Ashely.
I have been without familiarity for almost one year to the day, for I've not been on the east coast since last November. Tonight, I was reminded once again of the brilliant life awaiting me come December. There is nothing like the gentle hug of an old, familiar face. There's nothing like the scent of a familiar friend. There's nothing like the laugh that follows a familiar smile. Human nature is to relate to what is familiar, and I am certainly looking foward to being back in the place where I started this whole journey of "she sure is."
