"GO, BREAKERS, GO!" we screamed from the stands as the marching band sat in form next to us at the first home game of the season this evening. Complete with cheerleaders dressed in marroon and white and the offensive and defensive teams shoveling themselves on and off the field, the non-league match against a northern California team was quite the event for the boys. I must say that their world is much better after having seen an American football game, and mine too. I felt so at home in the crisp almost-fall wind softly sweeping the air around us, the crowds cheering frantically for a "FIRST DOWN!", and the booster club perusing the stands while offering home-baked goods in effort to raise support money. It was quite the American event tonight.
Even so, I couldn't help but dream of the onset of fall, as of tomorrow. There is a quick in my step when I think of the autumn season, the sweaters and scarves that I will pull out of my suitcase(s), the hot chocolate that I can't wait to drink, and the pumpkin-flavored delights which I will share with this family. French people are all pumpkin virgins. Pumpkin is not part of their diet, but I am certainly anxious to introduce them to the glorious wonder that is pumpkin, for there is nothing better than pumpkin in October and November, the two best months of the year. With school in full swing and the waves still crashing on the ocean below, these next couple of months are sure to be perfect.
Tomorrow, heading to Saddleback Valley again for another taste of a great church, lead by a community of people who know and live a life that honors Him. Cool.
