What in the world! The key to a place being paradise is two-fold: view and weather. Ok, I've established that the world here is nothing short of perfect, everything green and fresh. But, today, oh mon Dieu! The heat was absolutely horrific at 36°C! I have decided that I will forever be an autumn girl. Perhaps because my brithday happens to be in the autumn (in fact, September welcomes the first day of autumn)? Whatever the reason, I will tell you now that I was sweating most of the day. Enjoy reading about my day, but also note that it was again full. Thus, since I am tired and still sweating, I will only recount the days events. No thinking-outside-the-boxfor me today.
I took Melville (10-yr. old) to school...au velo (on bicycle). Yes, good morning to me! I came up to the house from my little bungalow, dressed for the day, and the first thing Melville asked was if I could ride with him to school. Sure, Melville. The rest of the morning was spent with Milan (8-yr.old), watching him during his tennis lesson and playing an English computer game. He's brilliant and catches on oh, so quickly!
I am suffering a bit of jet lag still, I'm afraid, so this afternoon, I rested. I am reading this brilliant book about living a healthy lifestyle. Surprised? I won't tel you the name, cause it's truly a bit of a cheesy title. Suffice to say that I can't put it down, but I can't take it out of my house for fear of humiliation. Add a 2-hour nap to the bookreading shenanigans, and I had the perfect recipe for a great afternoon.
Can you believe that I play tennis everyday? Yes, for another hour this afternoon, Milan and I rode bikes over to the court and sweated until the sun pierced our skin. After nearly dying of thirst because the water fountains here are upside down and are not, in fact, true water fountains, but are water faucets, Milan (who was just fine because he knows how to work those stupid things) and I returned to the house before leaving to go to the school. Melville is in his last week of school and they had a theater production (un spéctacle) this evening. So, I've been to my first french children's theater show. Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.
So, I am here again, after chinese food for dinner (oh heavens, French-Chinese food is seriously way better than American-Chinese) and a bit of playing with the boys. Another good day. Tomorrow, another personal mountain exploration is in order. You know how I love to explore...another good day on the way.
I do hope you are well.
current music: chirping birds and heat (yes, it's so hot here that you can literally hear the heat hovering)
current reading: I already told you
