Mission not so impossible

Mission: Saddleback on Sunday night for church. Problem: 3 kids to entertain. Team players: my French friend Jessica and me.

I took the "sneak attack" approach and hyped up the awesome skatepark that just opened on the campus of Saddleback's Church, knowing that at the mention of the word "skate" the boys would certainly be game-on. So, piled into the car, we sailed north east to the valley, only to find that the park was closed for the service currently in session. Quel dommage (how unfortunate)! Before I realized that I was speaking, I was suggesting that we stay until the service ended so that we could 'play' air hockey, basketball, PS2, and a slew of other games. Wandering around the campus for only about a half hour, we waited with anticipation. At 6pm on the dot, we were off to register the kids for their respective classes, and I took Jessica with me to Fuse, the service for the post-college-I-have-no-clue-what-I'm-going-to-do-with-my-life-and-I'm-broke-but-I've-got-a-degree-people. Yes, there were over 1200 people in the service, so I certainly had no right to feel alone. Less than 10 minutes into the service, Jessica turns to me with two thumbs up, an indication that she was enjoying the service. Two completed handouts on how to love people with words later, we scurried across the skatepark to pick up the kids. Smiles abounding, I could only think of one thing: mission accomplished.

I'm anticipating a repeat mission next Sunday. Until then, He's still up to something.
