She's 86 years old. She has never been married. She has no children. She lives alone in a house full of antique furniture and ancient trinkets, each one bursting with a piece of history. She has sparkling blue eyes. She is our neighbor. Her name is Jeanine and she has a story to tell.
Do you remember me telling you about the wonderful elderly woman that came over for dinner a few weeks ago? Remember me telling you how much I wanted to visit her? Well, today was the day. Her presence is refreshing and she has such wisdom (as do most elderly people) that I so desperately wanted to hear.
We spent a good 2 hours sharing stories about our travels and laughing the afternoon away. In response to a story I was telling, she told me something which I will never forget. She said, "Time is the source of equilibrium," in French and with such ease that one would miss if he were not paying close attention. She urged me to pay attention to Him, for He is the only one who knows everything and everyone. I loved hearing her describe Him in French. She is one of those people...He is such a part of her life that she can't help but talk about Him. "Time is the source of equilibrium." It is time that sifts through the stones, leaving only the diamonds sparkling underneath the sunlight. It is time alone that can heal, no matter what medications temporarily mend. It is time alone that we wrestle against, for time is eternal and our life here is but a glimpse of time. It is time alone that allows us to learn, to grow, to laugh, to remember. It takes time to do all things, and Janeine is so brilliant to enforce upon me the fact that time is, infact, our greatest allie if we so choose. She also shared with me a bit of Aristotle's words, "Every art and every inquiry, and similarly every action and choice, is thought to aim at some good; and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim," as she explained to me that He is the ultimate victor and He is the ultimate good. Another afternoon well spent.
As for the evening, I began to invent a new culinary delight, which we will enjoy (hopefully), tomorrow, as well as some French-style brownies. I hope they are delish.
It's been a while since I've told you thank you for being interested in my life. I love that you read, even if just once. I trust that I am living in a way that makes Him proud.

I believe He is proud...I know Dad and I are! Keep living each day for Jesus and you will be right where you need to be. Continue to let Him shine through your eyes! I Love You, Mom
